PAUL Fernandez produced a superb display at the Virgin Money London Marathon.

The Abingdon AC athlete finished an impressive 16th in the vet 45 category as he crossed 318th overall in 2hrs 38mins 15secs.

Witney RR members also impressed around the capital.

Stephen Young was their first runner home in 2.55.02, while Isobel Stubbs shattered her personal best by 21 minutes with 3.16.46.

Dave Basham set an Alchester AC club record for the vet 70 age category when reaching the finish line in 4.25.00.

Abingdon youngsters Isabelle and Olivia Martin shone in the Mini London Marathon.

Isabelle finished second in the under 13 girls’ race, while Olivia was fourth in the under 15 event.

Meanwhile, Bicester AC’s Samuel Rayson won the under 15 boys’ 80m hurdles and high jump in the first round of the UK Development League.

His brother Kyle triumphed in the under 13 75m hurdles in the Midlands 1C match at Tipton.

Lily Honour also tasted success in the under 15 girls’ javelin as Bicester finished fifth.
