OXFORD City were involved in a remarkable 4-4 draw at bottom side Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.

The visitors led 2-0 at half-time in the Vanarama National League South clash, only to trail 3-2 with four minutes to go.

Two goals from Stefan Brown then saw City lead 4-3 heading into injury time, only for the hosts to salvage a draw with a dramatic equaliser.

The early exchanges were dominated by the hosts, Joe Turner looking threatening.

He came closest to giving his side the lead right on the half-hour mark with a shot which grazed the post.

However, immediately after the let-off, City broke and Zac McEachran fired home a shot which just crept inside Jonathan Healy’s near post.

Reece Fleet then doubled the lead when he scored from a corner to give the visitors breathing space at half-time.

But Tonbridge wasted little time in reducing the deficit after the restart.

Just three minutes had passed when a corner was delivered to the near post where Tom Derry got the touch to halve the deficit.

Eight minutes later and it was 2-2 when D’Sean Theobalds confidently fired home from the penalty spot.

City keeper Craig King then produced a sensational save to keep his side on level terms, diving full stretch to deny Tom Drury.

However, he was powerless to stop Tonbridge going 3-2 ahead in the 86th minute when Turner cut inside before curling a shot into the far corner.

But City hit straight back, substitute Brown firing past Henly just a minute later to level the scores again.

And the visitors thought they had snatched victory in stoppage time when Nana Owusu laid the ball off to Brown to fire home.

There was, however, to be another twist when Tonbridge won a corner in the final minute.

Henly was sent forward but it was Turner who was in the right place to guide a header into the net and seal a dramatic draw.

City’s attention now turns to next weekend when they host Solihull Moors in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup at Court Place Farm.
