ARDLEY United were able to give something back to the local community thanks to one of their sponsors.

McDonald's at Baynards Green was forced to close as part of coronavirus measures, but the rapid closure meant they had a surplus of perishable goods.

It saw United chairman Ian Feaver take delivery of 60 large bottles of milk and about 500 eggs.

He said: "We went to Fewcott House Nursing Home thinking they would need it for the people who live there, but they have 45 staff and all of them are working 12-hour shifts.

"When they go to the shops there's nothing left, so it was really handy for them.

"With the rest we went knocking on doors, because we know where those who might be in need live.

"It was nice to be able to help.

"We are just doing all we can to support the locals while we have time on our hands."

The club are awaiting confirmation on the outcome of the Uhlsport Hellenic League season.

It has been suggested all competitions at step five and six in English football's pyramid will not see their seasons restart.

Instead, the speculation is final tables will be worked out on a points per game basis - although it will not affect Ardley's position in step five.
