JOSH Ashby has become the latest player to sign a new deal at Oxford City.
The midfielder will stay at the Vanarama National League South club for a third successive season after committing to the club for the 2020/21 campaign.
He joins two other members of City’s 2019/20 squad to put pen to paper, after fellow midfielders Zac McEachran and Reece Fleet agreed terms last week.
And City boss David Oldfield was delighted to hold on to another of his key men.
He said: “We feel it’s important to have tried to keep hold of our best players and Josh certainly fits into that bracket.
“We feel there’s more to come from him and we’re looking forward to working together.”
Ashby has become increasingly influential since joining City on a permanent deal in 2018 and won the club’s player of the season award for 2019/20.
The set-piece specialist scored three penalties and two free-kicks last season and reached 100 starts for the club just before the campaign was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ashby’s deal comes 24 hours after ex-Oxford United teammate James Roberts returned to Court Place Farm.
