WANTAGE Town have signed former Scotland youth international Jack Alexander.

The 23-year-old midfielder has become the BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central club’s latest recruit of a busy summer after joining from Thatcham Town.

Alexander, who lives locally, won 11 youth caps for his country and also played for Liverpool and Bristol City at Under 18 level.

He said: “For me, playing local football and knowing the manager as I do played a big part in my decision.

“My old man, Jamie Alexander, also played for Wantage for a number of years so the club has always been a part of my life.”

Alfredians boss Matt Biddle said: “His background and ability speaks for itself and he won me over even more with his excellent character and attitude.”
