Ardley United suffered heartbreak in the Emirates FA Cup, losing 5-6 on penalties against Edgware Town in the extra preliminary round.
In an entertaining game, both sides played at a frantic pace, neither side testing the goalkeepers enough or creating any clear cut chances.
This was Ardley’s downfall, as they dominated the second half but could not find the final ball.
Owen James, Bradley Walton, Alex Wheeler and Ty Hamilton all had good opportunities but missed the target in the goalless draw.
The tie went straight to penalties, where Ardley gained the advantage when stopper Sam Eeles saved Mark Burgess’s penalty.
But Tyvon Stewart had his effort saved by Frazer Siddall and full back Alex Wheeler, with Ardley’s sevent penalty, saw his effort go wide which left substitute Hadi Issa to step up and win the game for Edgware.
