NICO Hulkenberg was delighted to score his first points in seven races at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The German, who drives for the Enstone-based Renault team, finished tenth at Interlagos.

Teammate Carlos Sainz crossed the line 6.5secs behind in 11th.

Hulkenberg started seventh on the grid and slipped back early on, but experienced an untroubled race.

He said: “It’s good to get my first point since Spa although it was pretty much an uneventful race.

“We lost places at the start and with (Lewis) Hamilton and (Daniel) Ricciardo coming through it was a tough ask to move up the order.

“On the one side, it’s good to have finished the race, on the other side we did lack pace.

“I was pushing flat out, so it’s a shame we couldn’t do more. My focus is now on a final flourish in Abu Dhabi.”

Meanwhile, Chipping Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw finished second in the final round of the Super GT Championship.

Alongside Rapid ARTA teammate Shinichi Takagi, the result secured fourth place in the GT300 series rankings.

The podium was Walkinshaw’s third rostrum in his maiden season in the championship.
