CHLOE McCulloch is on her way to fulfilling the dream of following in her father’s footsteps as a rally driver.
The 19-year-old spent the majority of her childhood learning the sport on motocross and quad bikes.
Her dad Ian has been racing for 36 years and competed in the National ANCRO rally championship as well as many Witney Motor Club events in Ford Escorts, Toyota Corollas and Suburus.
Driving her own Peugeot 206 rally car, McCulloch, from Witney, passed her MSA (Motor Sports Association) rally-driving exam, held at the London Rally School (LRS) in Bicester.
She will be competing this year in the AWMMC Rally Championship, starting in April.
McCulloch said: “I am so excited. My dad says I have to drive slowly on my first rally. I just gave him a look.
“OK, I said, but after that I’m out there to win.”
Jonathan Wigmore owner of LRS said “It’s great to see a young woman driver have the enthusiasm and skill to compete in what is seen as a male sport. I really hope she goes far.”
On leaving Henry Box School, Witney, she studied book-keeping at the Open University, and now looks after the books at Waterside, a local landscaping business.
Ian McCulloch said: “While I would like Chloe to study more, if she could support herself with rallying in the future I would be very envious.”
