MORGAN Williams scored a hat-trick as North Leigh trounced hosts Cove 7-0 in the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
The Combined Counties League had no answer to their Southern League visitors, who had the game won at half-time when they led 4-0.
Williams opened the scoring after nine minutes from Kieran Saunders’s low cross.
Aaron Woodley made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after he had been bundled over in the area.
Sanders rounded the keeper to make it 3-0 and an own goal by Cove defender Jordan Stepney, who diverted Woodley’s right wing cross into his net, made it 4-0 at the break.
Cove’s best effort had come from midfield Jack Howard, who shot against a post.
In a low-key second half, Williams knocked home a rebound to make it 5-0 in the 67th minute.
Elliott Osborne-Ricketts scored the sixth and then crossed for Williams to complete his hat-trick in the 76th minutes.
North Leigh visit another Combined Counties side, Chessington & Hook, in the first qualifying round on September 12.
Hook Norton drew 1-1 in their tie at home to Burnham, thanks to a goal from Dan Reeves.
The teams meet in a replay tonight (Tuesday), with the winners visiting Eastbourne United or Arundel, who also drew on Saturday.
