MARK Gee hailed the impact of striker George Seacole after his double gave North Leigh a 2-0 win at Larkhall Athletic on Saturday.

The Millers recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since December to move to within a point of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West play-off places.

And the North Leigh boss was full of praise for Seacole, who has four goals from seven appearances since his return from a long-term injury.

“He’s had a bit of a frustrating season, but he’s finding form now,” said Gee.

“He’s been scoring a number of goals for us whenever he plays and hopefully he can continue that now.

“He’s a good finisher, a good worker and he’s always a threat.”

His opener came on 30 minutes when Lewis White headed the ball into the box and Seacole clipped home.

Goal No 2 arrived ten minutes later when Seacole latched on to Jamie Cook’s pass and fired into the net.

The Millers were more than comfortable after the break.

North Leigh: Foster, Elkins, M Williams (Davies 87), Turk, White, Hole, Osborne-Ricketts, L Williams, Cook (McNish 85), Seacole (Brown 89), Else. Sub not used: Taylor.

Attendance: 95.

However, the Millers will be without Seacole’s attacking threat this evening when they welcome Oxfordshire Senior League leaders Oxford University Press in the quarter-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Having previously featured for North Leigh United in their second-round penalty shoot-out victory over Chinnor, the forward finds himself cup-tied.

North Leigh, beaten finalists in last year’s competition, are looking to set up a semi-final clash against Oxford United and go the distance again.

Gee said: “We want to win the game first and foremost and we’ll be taking it seriously.

“We’d like to go as far as we can and we want the opportunity to play Oxford in the semi-final.”
