JOE Mills and Duncan Leese both crossed twice as Banbury recorded their biggest win of the season when beating Swindon 53-7 at home.

Both sides were hit by unavailability, but Bulls eased to a third straight victory in South West 1 East.

It only took the hosts 30 seconds to open the scoring, Mills sprinting over and Leese adding the extras.

It was 14-0 immediately from the restart when Jack Briggs touched down, Leese converting.

Swindon recovered well to the early onslaught, but Bulls still went on to lead 26-0 at half-time as Ed Berridge and Tommy Gray went over, Leese converting the first.

Mills crossed again after the break as Banbury extended their advantage to 31 unanswered points.

But Swindon got on the scoreboard when Peter Kewell forced his way over, Adam Westall adding the extras.

Banbury were soon piling on the pressure again, with tries from Leese (2) and Jed Boyle, the former kicking one conversion, making it 48-7.

There was still time for Bulls to break the 50-point mark, when Tom Burman dived over in the corner late on.

Witney conceded a try two minutes from time to fall to a 31-27 home defeat at the hands of Old Centralians.

The visitors got off to a flying start, leading 14-0 after just ten minutes thanks to scores from Nathan Stroud and Rob Winch, both of which were converted by Wayne Mulhurn .

Witney hit back through Phil Thomas, who scored a try, conversion and penalty to reduce the deficit to 14-10 at half-time.

The hosts went ahead early in the second period when winger Rhys Morgan touched down, Thomas again successful with his kick.

However their visitors scored two tries in quick succession through Ben Ellis and Winch, Mulhurn converting the latter, to lead 26-17.

Witney, though, continued to battle and a Thomas penalty cut the lead before they went ahead.

Morgan went over after good work from Alistair Anderson, Thomas converting to make it 27-26 going into the final ten minutes.

But with just two minutes remaining, the visitors snatched victory when full back Lewis May touched down in the corner.

Oxford Harlequins went down 30-10 at leaders Newbury Blues.

A shock was on the cards when visiting hooker Chris Davies scored after just two minutes.

However, Newbury hit back to lead 17-5 at half-time and then 25-7 with three minutes remaining.

Jack Crowe went over for Quins’ second try of the game, but Newbury had the last word to march on at the top of the table.
