CHINNOR are seeking revenge when they welcome familiar rivals Cinderford to Kingsey Road tomorrow.

The Thame-based side head into the fixture on the back of yet another thriller after beating Caldy 20-17.

Victory in Merseyside helped them remain sixth in National League 1 and just six points off leaders Blackheath.

Chinnor host Cinderford looking to extend their unbeaten home run to six matches and make it four wins in five games.

They finished second to the Gloucestershire club in the division below last season and their 26-14 defeat to tomorrow’s opponents almost 12 months ago played a major role in the title race.

Matt Williams is now hoping to avenge that loss and record a second double in the third tier after a 26-21 win in the Forest of Dean earlier this season.

“This feels like a local derby,” said Chinnor’s director of rugby.

“One of the worst defeats we suffered last season was at the hands of Cinderford at home. The boys will not want that to happen again.

“This is an opportunity to keep us in touch with what is going on above us, but also right the wrongs of last season.

“I have a lot of respect for Cinderford, we’ve had good rivalry against them now for several seasons and they will be as keen to beat us on our turf as we will be to win.”

Chinnor hand a debut to fly-half Ben Palmer, who has signed until the end of the season from National League 2 North side South Leicester after Caolan Ryan reinjured his knee last week.

Craig Holland moves to full-back, with Kieran Goss rested after playing with a hip problem in recent games as well as needing stitches in his mouth against Caldy.

Centre Alex Dancer returns in place of the unavailable Orisi Nawaqaliva, while in the pack, Tom Price and George Oliver replace George Edgson and Will Bordill respectively.

Meanwhile, scrum-half Greg Goodfellow has been loaned to Henley Hawks and is set to make his debut against Old Redcliffians in National League 2 South.

The Scot has found playing time limited in recent weeks, due to the arrivals of Ed Hoadley and Connor Tupai.

Williams said: “It’s nothing more than needing to keep Greg sharp and it is better for him to be playing for a quality outfit like Henley as opposed to our second team.”

Fourth-placed Hawks, who have lost their last two matches, make six changes, two positional.

Full-back Ben Bolster also makes his first appearance after signing from Dings Crusaders, while Xavier Andre returns and George Griffiths reverts to the wing.

Sam Lunnon moves into the second row, with Tom Hall handed a start at blindside flanker.

In South West 1 East, Allan Purchase and Joe Nalewabau return as Oxford Harlequins eye a fourth straight win when they host Trowbridge.

Relegation-threatened Witney are without unavailable duo Ted Landray and Andy Melbourne when they travel to Chippenham, searching for their first victory of 2019.

Ryan Harris and Ben Fisk start, while Tom Gaffney moves to full-back and Matt Clarke to centre.

Banbury bid to return to winning ways when they take on runaway leaders Newbury Blues.
