MATT Goode says Banbury will not be thinking about a last-ditch attempt to make the play-offs when they take on relegated Witney tomorrow.

Bulls head into the home fixture – their final league game of the season – with a faint hope of overtaking Old Centralians into second place in South West 1 East.

With three points separating the sides, beating Witney would not be enough for Banbury, who need their Gloucestershire rivals to slip up at home to Salisbury.

Head coach Goode, who starts at outside centre, insists his side’s focus is all on recording a fifth-straight win and building momentum for next Thursday’s Oxfordshire Cup final.

He said: “The play-offs are not really something we’ve been thinking about.

“I think Old Cents will beat Salisbury at their place. I don’t think it (beating Witney) will make too much difference.

“We would be happy with third and we need to look at having a good performance against Witney which will lead us on to next week.

“It (the cup final) has been (our focus) for the last couple of weeks – I want the players to show me who wants that shirt.”

Giles Saar, Jacob Turner and Sam Stoop return to the starting XV for Banbury.

Witney are without Ted Landray, who is sidelined following a head injury, while Callum Godfrey and James Merriman are back.

Oxford Harlequins travel to Royal Wootton Bassett, bidding to end their season on a high.

Guy Fairburn comes in at fly-half as the side look to record their first win since January.

Henley Hawks head to Old Albanians knowing even a bonus-point victory may not be enough to keep them in the National League 2 South promotion picture.

Luke Allen’s side trail second-placed Canterbury, who occupy the only play-off spot, by six points with two games to go.

Hawks will be hoping the Kent side fail to beat Barnes to keep their faint hopes alive.

They make four changes, one positional, with Dave Manning, Scott White and George Wood handed starts, while Marcus Lowe moves to blind-side flanker.

Chinnor bid to end a run of five straight defeats in National League 1 when they visit bottom side Esher.
