BERTIE Hopkin has been promoted to become Chinnor’s new club captain.
The fly half has been at the club since 2015, scoring 335 points in 46 games.
It is the first announcement made since Richard Thorpe joined as director of rugby last week and will see Hopkin play a role in the off-field management.
He said: “After being at the club for five years, I’ve always wanted to play a key part in its journey.
“When club captain was first mentioned to me, I felt very privileged to be considered for this role and it is a great honour to be selected.”
Thorpe, who was a teammate of Hopkin’s during his first spell at Kingsey Road, added: “During my time as head coach, I was always impressed with Bertie’s influence over his fellow players.
“He is a club man through and through.
“I feel privileged and excited to work alongside him.
“Unlike some other clubs, Chinnor’s club captain will have a crucial role in player administration and delivering our new vision, and he will be forming a part of our senior management team.”
