The great Bishop bake-off for Christian Aid week

THE BISHOP of Oxford wiped the floor with the Bishop of Buckingham in a contest to judge their baking skills.

The Rt Rev John Pritchard wasn’t loafing around, but he kneaded a little help from his assistant and chaplain, the Rev Dr Amanda Bloor to defeat the Rt Rev Alan Wilson.

The baking bishops did battle at the Marlborough School last Thursday to promote Christian Aid Week.

Bishop John said: “Bread is such a simple staple food for us, but for many people even the basics are in short supply leaving people hungry day after day.”

Thousands of Christian Aid supporters across Oxfordshire, Berks and Bucks are expected to take part in collections and fundraising events during Christian Aid Week next week, with the aims of raising £500,000.

Myron Blatz says...

Doesn't say much for their 'day jobs' but makes a change to see men doing the baking, instead of reading about women wanting to become vicars and bishops, and reading about clergy from various Christian faiths molesting children. What next - an ecumenical sewing bee?
