A derelict shop in Kidlington has been given a new lease of life by an Oxford businessman.
Jay Al-Jeboury has taken over the former Cherwell Stores in Mill Street, which has reopened as Deli Lane last week.
He also runs Le Parisien and Chez Gaston, both in North Parade, Oxford.
Mr Al-Jeboury said he had been spending all his time at the new store because the customers were so friendly.
He said: "What is nice is that the locals have been really supportive and they are glad I've kept it as a shop."
The newly-renovated shop sells basic groceries, fruit and vegetables as well as hot food, sandwiches and coffees.
Joyce Rhymes retired from running Cherwell Stores in August.
She came to Oxford from South Shields, Tyneside, when she was 14 and spent two terms at East Oxford School before her 55-year career in retailing.
