The Oxford Mail DVD is proving a Christmas bestseller with sales approaching the 1,000 mark - but people should buy now to avoid disapp-ointment.

John Chipperfield, editor of the paper's Memory Lane supplement, created Majestic Oxford with our IT development manager Steve King and other collaborators.

It features 100 years of Oxford history, using pictures from our extensive library, taking readers on a 40-minute tour.

Newspaper sales manager Margaret Marsh said: "The DVD has been a massive hit and we have already sold just under 1,000 in the space of a month.

"However, time is running out for anyone who wants one as a Christmas present, so they need to get in and buy one so it makes the last post on Monday."

She said feedback had been extremely positiv, adding: "I had one elderly lady ring up to say how much she loved the DVD and how it had brought back so many memories of Oxford."

Mr Chipperfield said he was inspired to create the DVD so he could share some of the wonderful scenes of Oxford with our readers.

He said: "It was a real collaborative effort and everyone involved is delighted at how successful it has been."

The film, sponsored by Francis Rockliff of Rockliff Productions, sold more than 200 copies in the first week it was released.
