CHIPPING Norton Literary Festival organisers Clare Mackintosh and Caroline Watson have revealed the last authors for the children’s programme.
Lauren Child, the award-winning author and creator of Charlie and Lola, will open the main festival on April 24 with a talk about the character Ruby Redfort, from her Clarice Bean series.
Ms Mackintosh said that more than a quarter of tickets have already been sold.
She said: “We are launching this year’s festival with the Lauren Child event to demonstrate our commitment to promoting child literacy.
“My favourite books as a girl were the Just William books, by Richmal Crompton.
“I used to spend my pocket money on collecting them.
“They are fantastic books and it’s been amazing to introduce them to my kids.
“For me, it’s all about encouraging children to read for pleasure and learn to appreciate a good story.”
