Dear Sir,

I read with dismay that the Nuffield Practice health centre in Witney is deemed as Requires Improvement by the CQC.

I have been at this practice for 28 years now almost. In that time I have had cause for complaint once, which was sorted by the then manager Maria Gardner in 1993.

Yes, there is one GP I prefer not to see, the staff know and respect this, and if possible will avoid booking me with them.

Unfortunately, I have a 'few' (as my GP puts it) long-term health issues, but apart from the early day have NEVER had bad care from Nuffield.

Twelve thousand patients to eight GPs is, per doctor, a Dickens of a feat, and as an ex-nurser, and retired home help, I well know how cursed some patients can be, and, sadly, the abuse given sometimes to both staff and doctors.

No GP does home visits any longer, but when I had my stroke the girls were MORE than amazing, getting me in to see my GP, assisting so I didn't fall again, as was the GP I saw at the time.

I hope Boris manages to get 6,000 more GPs. Goodness knows we need them with an increasing population, but maybe the CQC should also ask patients their views of the Nuffield health centre.

Catherine Simonini runs a good surgery – maybe it could do with a bit of metaphorical polish here and there but I say 'don't knock it'.
