AN INDEPENDENT store that sells electrical appliances has purchased a business part owned by a former Oxford United footballer.
Buywise Domestics in Banbury has taken over Busby & Lucas in Witney.
The firm was founded by Ray Busby, an appliance engineer, and Dick Lucas, who made over 200 appearances for the U’s between 1967 and 1975, to supply, repair and service white goods.

Jolyon New, managing director of Buywise Domestics, said: “It’s an exciting time for Buywise as we look forward to helping even more people save time and money through supplying reliable and efficient domestic appliances.
“We wish Ray and Dick all the best for their retirement and guarantee their customers will be cared for.”
Mr Busby said: “Dick and I are proud of what we have accomplished. We would like to thank our customers for helping to bring us to where we are today.”
Buywise Domestics will continue to operate under the Busby & Lucas name locally.
