A NEW radio station is launching in Oxfordshire today.

Get Radio will broadcast for the first time on DAB Digital Radio across Oxfordshire and online at Getradio.co.uk.

Presenters of the new station will be speaking to people across the county who make the communities tick, giving a platform to business owners, MPs and councillors, key workers and others who are the 'backbone' of Oxfordshire.

The normal programme for the station will kick-start at 6am on January 4 with the breakfast show presented by Rich Smith.

Music from the last four decades will then be played throughout the day with breaks for traffic and travel news bulletins from Radio News Hub.

Co-founder Mr Smith, added: “This venture is all about radio and our community. I’m really looking forward to hearing from people and listening to what’s going on in the heart of our towns and villages. One of our main aims is to bring people together.

“It’s just two of us working on this endeavour with a very small budget. But, in time, we want to build up our offering to serve the people across our county and provide some fun and fabulous music at the same time.”

James Craddock added: “Radio has been a passion of mine since I was nine-years-old. My other three obsessions are IT, business, and music, and they have all played a part in getting this project off the ground.

“GET RADIO is a splendid opportunity to establish a community and business orientated radio station designed to serve Oxfordshire and help people bounce back from the pandemic.”

From 11am on Sunday's from January 10 the presenters will also host 'Business Brunch' where news from the week will be debated with small business owners.
