Police praised the bravery of a woman whose attacker was last week found guilty of sexual assault.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was pawed by Joseph Parkin after meeting him on a night out in Witney in 2019.

Parkin, 27, of Finstock, was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault by jurors at Oxford Crown Court on Friday. He was cleared of attempted rape.

Det Con Charlotte Eden said: “Firstly, I would like to recognise the bravery of the victim in this case.

“From reporting, during the investigation and throughout the court process she has shown tremendous courage and support to Thames Valley Police.

“Without the victim coming forward, Parkin would not have been brought to justice through the courts.

“We take reports of this nature very seriously and will investigate thoroughly any reports.”
