A MAN has been arrested after a motorcyclist died on the A420 this morning.

Emergency services scrambled to the road in Faringdon, near to the junction of London Street, at around 6.30am after a crash between a white Mercedes van, a Triumph motorbike and a Ford Fiesta.

The motorcyclist died at the scene despite desperate attempts from paramedics and members of the public to save his life.

His next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers.

Nobody else was injured.

The driver of the van, a man in his 30s from Gloucestershire, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is being questioned by officers.

Officers remain on the scene while investigation and recovery work is ongoing.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the road and follow diversions through Faringdon.

Sergeant Matt Cadmore of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this road traffic collision in which a man has sadly died. My thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.

“We are appealing for the public’s help in our enquiries and we would ask anyone who has witnessed this collision or if they have dash-cam footage that captures the incident to please come forward.

“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 321 of 27122021.”
