A 25-year-old motorcyclist has died in hospital after a crash on the A44 at Woodstock last night.

At around 7.10pm last night, the victim was riding a black Yamaha R1 motorcycle in convoy with others near to the Duke of Marlborough pub when he came off his bike.

Police said he collided with items on the side of the road rather than another vehicle.

He died at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford earlier today.

Investigating officer PC Liam Calvert of the Joint Operations Road Policing Unit, based at Bicester, said: “My thoughts and the thoughts of Thames Valley Police are with the family and friends of the man who has died as a result of this collision.

“His next of kin are being offered support at this extremely difficult time by specially trained family liaison officers.

“The collision took place in the early evening, and I am renewing my appeal to anybody who witnessed what happened to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“At this stage, I believe this to have been a single vehicle collision, and I would urge anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision to please make contact with us.
