The procession of vehicles travelled across Oxfordshire, passing Didcot, Abingdon, Oxford, Kidlington, Bicester and Banbury, on last Monday (October 17) before passing the same towns on a return journey on Sunday (October 23).

A photograph shared with this newspaper shows the weapons travelling along the A34 on Sunday afternoon.

Nigel Day, from the campaign group, said: “These convoys travel regularly between Atomic Weapons Establishment Burghfield in Berkshire, the nuclear bomb factory, and Royal Naval Armaments Depot, Coulport, next to the Trident submarine base at Faslane in Scotland.

“This is the most deadly cargo on our roads.”
