A MOTORIST has been arrested and taking into custody in Witney for drug driving.

The driver was stopped by Thames Valley Police this week as the vehicle activated Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) for having no insurance.

Officers stopped the car which they described as “stinking of cannabis’ so they driver was subsequently drug wiped.

After testing positive for cannabis, the motorist was taken into custody.

A statement from Thame Valley Police said: “On patrol in Witney, a passing vehicle activated ANPR for no insurance & stopped. Driver had taken out one day policy, vehicle stank of cannabis and so driver was drug wiped which was positive for cannabis.

“Arrested and taken to custody.”
