Youth football club Witney Vikings were 'overwhelmed' with donations for a raffle to kickstart fundraising for one of the boys' dads who is running the London Marathon.

Dave Edwards will be running the marathon in April 2023 for Prostate Cancer UK in memory of his Dad, Eddie, who passed away in July of this year.

The raffle originally aimed to raise just £50 to £60 with prizes of a bottle of wine, a box of biscuits and a set of bath bombs.

However, 44 prizes were donated by 26 local companies.

And when the raffle was drawn by the kids on New Year's Eve it raised a whopping £1,070.

Coach Chris Miles said: "It’s an amazing achievement for a little local grassroots U9 football team in the space of one month.

"We were overwhelmed by the amount of donations we’ve received from companies within West Oxfordshire."
