A popular farm in Witney is re-opening for a new season.

This comes following news that volunteers at Cogges Manor Farm were awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at a ceremony on February 11.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK.

It was created in 2002 as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations with the aim of spotlighting the work of local volunteer groups.

Autumn Neagle, from Cogges said, “It’s great to be open just in time for half-term.

“Thanks to an impressive 16,000 hours of volunteer support time over the last year, it’s fantastic to welcome visitors back for a new season.

“New arrivals, two Sandy and Black VIPs (very important piglets), ‘Lavinia and Anchor’, are visiting till March; say hello, before they go back to their own farm as breeding pigs!”

These will include land management traineeships with young people aged 16-25 and Walk, Talk and Tea – an initiative to encourage older, isolated people to socialise.

The community projects are being supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

There will be plenty to keep kids entertained this half term at Cogges Manor Farm and they will have the opportunity to say hello to all the animals; goats, ponies, Cotswold sheep, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Cogges will be open every day from 10am to 4pm until March 26 and from 10am to 5pm from that date onwards.
