The food brand Pot Noodle has joined forces with a pothole campaigner to save ‘Britain’s roads from going to pot.’

Mark Morrell from Brackley near Oxfordshire is also known as Mr Pothole and he is one of the nation’s best known pothole campaigns.

He believes that the UK is gripped by a pothole crisis, made worse by the coldest winter in 12 years.

A spokesperson for Pot Noodle said: “The recent £200m budget announced for road repairs is a drop in the ocean, with surveys suggesting it would cost £14bn to tackle the backlog of required road maintenance in England and Wales.

“So to keep Brits from flipping their lids or flying into a rage hotter than a Bombay Bad Boy at the scope of the problem, Pot Noodle has decided to take a stand by teaming up with Mark Morrell, aka Mr Pothole, the man on a mission to tackle Britain’s pothole problem.

“To highlight the ridiculousness of the state of British roads, Pot Noodle is encouraging Brits to share pictures of their worst local potholes on social media using the hashtag #NothingFillsAHoleLikePotNoodle so more potholes be identified and shared with local authorities.

“The brand’s backing of Mr Pothole comes because nothing fills a hole like Pot Noodle, and will see some of the nation’s biggest potholes filled with the brand’s iconic Chicken & Mushroom flavour in a defiant stand against the scourge of Britain’s road crisis.”

Mr Pothole was inspired to crusade for safer roads after seeing his local area heavily affected by the pothole crisis.

He has been campaigning for over ten years to bring attention to the dangers of potholes and lobby the government to invest more into road maintenance.

He has also amused fans along the way with creative ways to raise awareness of the issue, such as nicknaming a local pothole “Jurassic Pothole” and placing dinosaur figurines alongside it.

Speaking on his involvement in the campaign, Mr Pothole says: "Potholes drive road users potty, me more than most!

“The pothole crisis across the UK is an increasingly serious issue and something that I have been campaigning for, for over ten years.

“During this period I have had to use my noodle with stunts to highlight just how bad potholes are - from floating plastic ducks in water filled potholes, birthday cakes, fishing rods and model submarines.”
