An education charity has made an alternative proposal for the land where Oxford United wants to build its new stadium.
An alternative land use proposal was submitted to Oxfordshire County Council for ‘The Triangle’, east of Frieze Way and south of Kidlington Roundabout, by Oxfordshire Projects, commonly known as TRAX, last Monday (September 11).
The Oxfordshire-based charity has been looking for new premises since 2020 and asked the council's cabinet for support to use the land in Kidlington.
However, its trustees said they were "informed that the Triangle was identified as a potential solution for OUFC and not as a general release of land."
The charity has since "moved on" from the proposal and is looking for other options.
The proposal will be mentioned at the crunch meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, September 19) when the council’s cabinet will decide whether to sell the land to United for its new ground.

A council spokesman confirmed a proposal had been made by the charity.
He said: “The proposal will be referenced verbally in the cabinet meeting on September 19 but will not be discussed in detail as the organisation in question stated that the contents of the proposal were for cabinet only.
“Prior to the approach from OUFC, Oxfordshire County Council was not looking for alternative tenants or uses for the Triangle, nor have any alternative bids been sought.”
The council has been recommended by planning officers to approve the sale to Oxford United as the club looks to leave Kassam Stadium before its lease runs out in 2026.
