Oxford hospitals are caring for a more than 60 patients with Covid, the latest figures show.

Oxford University Hospitals Trust was caring for 55 patients with Covid in hospital as of last Sunday and the Oxford Health Trust is caring for five patients.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid by 8am on January 28 was up from 44 on the same day the previous week.

Across England there were 3,883 people in hospital with Covid for the same time period. 

Figures do not specify or denote whether patients were hospitalised as a result of coronavirus nor if they are still in hospital due to coronavirus as the sole cause of illness.

Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has decreased by six per cent in the last four weeks.

The figures also show that 24 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to January 26.

In the week before Christmas, NHS England data revealed that the Oxford University Hospitals Trust was caring for 49 patients and Oxford Health Trust was caring for seven, suggesting that figures have remained relatively even.

Across the border Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has been caring for 29 patients, the latest figures show.
