Oxfordshire County Council look set to approve new 60mph spped limits on the A40 Witney bypass and on various 'on' and 'off' slip roads, in place of the existing national speed limits of 70mph.
The cabinet is set to approve the measure tomorrow including 40mph speed limits across the county, as well as new no entry restriction on the A40 Eastbound off-slip road at its junction with the B4022 Oxford Hill.
Following a formal consultation between March and May over half of the responses opposed the new speed limits.

Additionally Thames Valley Police did not object the measure but raised concerns on the belief that speed reductions are doing very little for road safety within the county.
The council said the measure is not to impose unnecessary restriction, but to ensure that the road operates safely and effectively once the new junction arrangement is in place.
Most residents raised concerns that the speed limit would result in unnecessary congestion.
Witney Town Council supported the measures saying the "revised traffic arrangements and speed management would likely assist in reducing the likelihood and severity of collisions".
Meanwhile a resident from Witney saying the "60mph limit is unnecessary & unjustified".
One resident from Aston said "there appears to be no reason to reduce the A40 to 60mph e.g. nearby housing etc.
"As a main through road, it should operate at the national speed limit of 70mph."
