Relief for fans of sitting down, as Witney Town Council has announced the installation of five new benches across Witney Lake and Country Park.

Three have been added around Mill Meadow, with two placed near Witney Lake.

There are plans for two more to join them 'as soon as operationally possible', the town council has promised.

The benches, made of recycled plastic and designed to resemble the style of pre-existing benches, represent another positive development for the 37-acre park after it was designated a Local Wildlife Centre earlier this month in recognition of its ecological importance and biodiversity.

Additionally, in October of last year, it won a gold award at the Thames and Chilterns in Bloom Awards.

The town council announced in a post on Facebook: 'We hope the new seating will allow visitors to enjoy more opportunities to pause, relax, and watch the beautiful wildlife while exploring the park.'
