Sir –Today, West Oxfordshire District Council will be asked to approve a Local Plan to be put before a Government Planning Inspector.  This is the last opportunity individual councillors have to what their own cabinet was told last week to “hit the pause button....”

Last week’s debate at cabinet threw up fundamental doubts and uncertainty about the viability of what they are about to do. There is an air of resignation that they must push through a plan, even though that plan could be fatally flawed because of the lack of sustainability and deliverability of north Witney.

Two senior cabinet members spoke out against leaving north Witney in the WODC submission to the Inspector. They spoke authoritatively and factually because they had read and understood the strong evidence based submission the North Witney Action Group has laid out.

Each WODC councillor has received a copy of our well researched and cogent submission. If they  have read and understood this submission, they too, like councillors’ Simon Hoare and Richard Langridge, will use their vote to not go forward with a plan that will be rejected, but to hit the pause button and replace north Witney with one of several more appropriate options
