Sir – I was saddened to read that councillor David Snow had taken the decision to stand down from West Oxfordshire District Council. Although I didn’t share his right-wing politics, no-one could doubt his dedication and commitment to serving the people.
Since he quit the Conservative Party in 2013 and sat as an Independent he really found his voice and I think grew considerably as a local representative. It is sad that he felt he couldn’t continue and I wish to thank him for his service to the community.
One of the biggest challenges for our next councillor in Witney North will be to vigorously fight the Conservative council’s proposal to build 1,000 new homes in an unsuitable part of North Witney which will fundamentally change the face and character of the area.
