WITNEY suffered a second successive defeat in South West 1 East as they fell to a 24-14 loss at Reading Abbey.
The hosts led 12-0 at half-time, thanks to tries from Gavin Dampies and Dillon Baptista. Oliver Walton converted the first score.
George Lewis crossed for a try and kicked two penalties to reduce the deficit to one point for Witney.
But the hosts responded and Dampies went over to make it 19-11.
Lewis kicked a penalty and Witney went in search of another score, but Abbey sealed victory when Jamie Burke was yellow-carded and Walton kicked the three points.
The score has been recorded as a 24-17 victory, but it is understood both sides are in agreement to have the result changed to 24-14.
