JOE Simpson is two rounds away from competing in the Pro-Am at the British Masters after coming through a regional qualifying event.
The amateur, from Burford, shot a 71 at Sonning to claim a share of 15th place in Bridgestone’s Chase Your Dream Trophy.
He now progresses to the national final on August 18, held during England Golf Week at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.
The top nine will progress to play in the Pro-Am at the Bridgestone Challenge, held at Luton Hoo in September.
And the top team at the Challenge Tour event will progress to the Pro-Am, at Close House, Northumberland, later that month.
Simpson, who plays off scratch, said: “I’m taking it round by round.
“But I’m looking forward to Woodhall Spa.”
