A QUICKFIRE double just before half-time saw Oxford Hawks bounce back to win 3-1 at bottom side Isca.

The Exeter side’s hopes of a first Men’s Conference West victory were boosted when they took the lead.

But Hawks, whose bright start to the season had taken a dent with two successive defeats, hit back to lead at the break thanks to goals from Ed Tristem and Jack Biggs.

Within three minutes of the restart Andy Watts made it 3-1 and although Hawks missed chances, it did not prove costly.

Zum Akhter scored twice to give Oxford OBU a 3-1 home win over Sonning which lifted them to third in MBBO Regional Division 1.

Worcester Bowden completed the scoring for the home side.

Tom Ferris scored twice as Wallingford ended a four-match winless run when beating Witney 2-1 at home.

His brace sandwiched Tim Chilvers’ effort for the visitors.

In the Investec Women’s Conference West, Oxford Hawks lost 2-0 at home to Swansea City despite a strong performance from goalkeeper Jess Hughes.

Witney lost 2-1 at Wimbledon in South League Division 1.

The visitors took an early lead when Sunny Wallis set up Abi Flory, but Wimbledon hit back to score either side of half-time.

In Division 2, Floor Timmer’s equaliser could not inspire Oxford, who lost 2-1 at East Grinstead 2nd.

But Oxford 2nd went through in the England Hockey Ladies Tier 2 Cup, winning 6-0 at home to Wootton Bassett.
