SWIMMING: Ethan Lefort led the way as Witney and District SC won their meeting in the National Arena League.

The 13-year-old was named swimmer of the match for two personal bests, which helped him to victory in the 100m butterfly.

It was one of 18 victories for Witney in the Division 2 gala at Tamworth, while they also had a dozen runner-up spots, lifting them to fourth after two rounds in the 24-team competition.

OTHER WITNEY WINNERS

James Bunyard (open 100 FC), Eleanor Perks (13/u 100 BRS), Georgia Duff (open 100 Fly), Maya Thorsdottir-Salanda (11/u 50 brs + fly), Jessica Miller (13/u 100 Bk + FC), Ella Edwards (15/u 100 Fly), William Phair (11/u 50 Bk), Oscar Oweka (11/u 50M FC). MOTORSPORT: Renault’s quest to secure fourth place in the Formula 1 constructors’ championship will go down to the final race.

The Enstone-based team had a chance to wrap up the ‘best of the rest’ tag behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

But neither of their drivers could pick up any points, leaving the Banbury-prepared Haas team in with a shout of denying them the honour.

However, it would take a remarkable final race for Renault to let slip their 24-point advantage.

Carlos Sainz finished 12th, with teammate Nico Hulkenberg forced to retire on the 33rd lap.

ATHLETICS: WITNEY Road Runner Sam Upton had a day to remember on Saturday.

After clocking a personal best 16mins 57 secs at the Keswick parkrun in the morning, he married fellow member Jen Horsman in the afternoon.
