ELLIOTT Moore is looking forward to Oxford United hitting the refresh button when the new season kicks off tomorrow.

After a campaign which saw the U’s flirt with relegation last time out, head coach Liam Manning has added eight new players, while restructuring the club’s coaching staff.

Encouraging displays during pre-season were rounded off with a 5-0 mauling of Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Ahead of the season opener at Cambridge United, Moore said: “When the gaffer came in, us as a team were under a lot of pressure and it was a different dynamic to what is now.

“There’s a new sense and feeling, it’s a new season and it’s a new start, and new faces around the place. There’s a lot of optimism around.

“We now know our set roles and that’s the most important thing. We know as an individual what we need to do and know as a collective what we need to do.”

The 26-year-old added: “We know what we’re all capable of. People are going to make mistakes and the way we want to play, there’s going to be mistakes but I feel if we go one or 2-0 down, we’ve got the players to come back.

“That might’ve been different last year with the situation we were in so it’s good to have a new season and a fresh start.”
