YANIC Wildschut has left Oxford United by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old winger signed on a two-year deal last summer from Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia, for an undisclosed fee.

A hamstring injury suffered in pre-season saw him miss five months of last season, however he went on to make 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

His solitary goal came in the 2-1 win at home to Ipswich Town, back in January.

He failed to feature in a matchday squad this campaign though, with United head coach Manning choosing other options in wide areas.

Manning said: “I had a discussion with Yanic at the end of last season, that he’d be available to move on and have a look and explore other options, which I think he’s done in the course of pre-season.

“It’s a stage of life where he’s at, looking for new opportunities and I can confirm we’ve terminated his deal, so he’ll be moving on with a new club.”
