LIAM Manning says the injury picked up by Marcus Browne during Oxford United’s 3-1 win at Barnsley ‘isn’t looking great’ for the winger.

The 25-year-old made an electric start at Oakwell, winning the penalty which Cameron Brannagan converted to give the U’s a 1-0 lead.

However, he was forced to hobble off after 27 minutes, having earlier been on the receiving end of a challenge from Mael de Gevigney on the left wing.

United head coach Manning said: “The initial bit isn’t looking great, but you never know until you have a scan.

“The one disappointment from the game was that, so fingers crossed it’s not too bad because he’s done really well for us.”

On the impact Browne was having in recent games for the U’s, Manning said: “There’s not many in the division that can do that [winning the penalty], and the challenge is keeping him on the pitch so he can do that regularly.

“It’s disappointing for him because he’s found a good vein of form.

“He was rightly starting and having a good impact in games, so fingers crossed it isn’t too bad.”
