CIARON Brown was restored to the Northern Ireland side as the Green and White Army won at home to Denmark.

After being left out of the team for the 4-0 defeat to Finland, Oxford United defender Brown played the full game on the left of a back three against the Danes.

The Euro 2024 qualifier was effectively a dead rubber, with Northern Ireland’s hopes of progressing over, while Denmark booked their ticket for next summer with a 2-1 victory over Slovenia on Friday.

Second half goals from Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price and Bolton Wanderers striker Dion Charles secured the win for Michael O’Neill’s team.

U’s goalkeeper James Beadle was also in international action, as he helped England’s Elite League Squad, formerly the Under-20s, secure a 3-2 win in Germany.

Paul Wanner gave the hosts the lead in the eighth minute, before Leeds United youngster Mateo Joseph equalised just after the half hour mark.

Ben Bobzien’s cross was rebounded into the back of the net by Martial Godo as Germany retook the lead in the second half, but Southampton winger Samuel Edozie brought England on level terms.

Reading defender Nelson Abbey was shown a red card for the Young Lions with just over 10 minutes remaining, however Chelsea youngster Charlie Webster scored a stoppage time winner.

Fin Stevens again captained Wales Under-21s as they were knocked off top spot in their 2025 European Championships qualifier.

The Wales side were beaten 2-1 at home to new Group I leaders Denmark, with Stevens playing the full match at right back.

United left back Greg Leigh will be aiming to overturn Jamaica’s 2-1 deficit against Canada when they meet for their Concacaf Nations League quarter final clash tomorrow.
