OXFORD City crashed out of the FA Trophy with a defeat at home to Chelmsford City.

Callum Watts scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark, securing progress for the Vanarama National League South play-off hopefuls.

Hoops head coach Ross Jenkins made four changes to his side from the 4-1 loss against Maidenhead United last time out, with Lewis Coyle, Reece Fleet, Lewis Miccio and Mitchell Roberts all restored to the starting line-up.

Neither goalkeeper had a serious save to make in the first half, although Freddie Hockey and Charlie Ruff both saw shots clear the crossbar for the visitors.

It took until almost the half-time break for the Hoops to have their first real attempt on goal, when Josh Parker’s effort from range had Jacob Marsden scrambling, however the ball sailed over.

The Clarets nudged in front following a series of corners, with one of the set pieces recycled to Watts, who cut inside and curled a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Callum Jones had the ball in the back of the net again for the visitors, but the offside flag saved the Hoops.
