We spoke to South London Press journalist Alex Grace to find out more about the former Millwall forward.

What is Tyler’s best position on the pitch?

Tyler had a breakthrough period at Hartlepool in the first half of the 2021/22 season. That unfortunately got cut short due to an injury that he picked up. He was due to go back out on loan to the League Two side, but the January window saw Jed Wallace linked with a move away from Millwall, and injuries meant that Burey was needed at Millwall.

He played the majority of that period on the right, and during his time at Hartlepool, he played up front for the majority of it. He never really got the chance at Millwall to play through the middle so I would say his best position is on the right.

What are his main strengths and attributes?

Pace. He is very, very fast. If you look at videos of him on YouTube and you look at some of the goals he has scored, pace is a very key part of them. When he did play for the Lions, which was not an awful lot, you could see his pace was something that they wanted to utilise. He was an unknown quantity in the Championship and a good weapon that could come off the bench and turn a game in his side’s favour.

Witney Gazette:

How do you think he'll fare in League One?

The Championship was a level a bit too high for Burey to be consistently good in. He was never able to get a run in the side, granted there was players of a higher level in front of him, however some would have said he needed to toughen up a little and become a bit more physical. Had his stint at Hartlepool not been cut short, then I’m sure he would have developed a bit more and could have had a future at The Den.

Being able to play in League One will give him the chance again to show how good he can be. Being able to start on a regular basis at a decent level will be key for him. He is a player with a lot of talent and playing at that level will help him to unlock it.

Do you think he’s got the potential to play in the Championship again in the future?

There is no doubt there is a lot of talent there. Should he be able to demonstrate it, then yes he will be able to play at Championship level again. On his day when he played well, he was a difference maker at Millwall, scoring some key goals against Derby and West Brom before he fell out of favour. I am confident that regular football will give him the chance to play at Championship level once again.
