OXFORD United saw Sky Bet League One play-off hopefuls Blackpool and Stevenage close the gap with wins on home soil last night.

Blackpool won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood Town, courtesy of a Jake Beesley header midway through the first half. Northern Ireland striker Shayne Lavery saw a penalty saved for the Seasiders with 13 minutes to go.

Stevenage meanwhile won 2-1 at home to fifth-placed Barnsley, who are a place and four points above the U’s.

Adam Phillips put the Tykes in front after half an hour, however Jamie Reid equalised in first half stoppage time. Dan Butler nudged Stevenage in front six minutes into the second half.

Blackpool and Stevenage sit eighth and ninth respectively, both three points shy of United, although Des Buckingham’s side have a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Exeter City secured a late comeback to draw 2-2 at Leyton Orient. Ollie O’Neill and George Moncur handed Orient a 2-0 goal lead, before the Grecians fought back.

Millenic Alli headed in with two minutes to go, prior to Tom Carroll netting the equaliser two minutes into stoppage time.

It also finished 2-2 between Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic at The Valley. An own goal from Latics skipper Charlie Hughes put the home side in front, before a Charlie Kelman brace handed the visitors the lead. Chuks Aneke brought the Addicks level with 11 minutes to go.

Reading won 2-0 at Bristol Rovers, with Sam Smith and Lewis Wing finding the net in the first half.

Already relegated Carlisle United won 1-0 at third from bottom Cheltenham Town, with Sam Lavelle finishing three minutes before the break.
