The owner of Claire's is set to shut 17 UK shoe shops as 1,300 jobs are lost.
Wynsors World of Shoes has announced that it is closing 17 branches across the country after other high street brands, also owned by Mondella Capital, closed a number of stores earlier this year.
The budget shoe chain currently has more than 45 shops nationwide and sells brands including Adidas, Skechers, Clarks, Timberland, Nike and Crocs.
Wynsors Shoes, in a previous statement, said: “It’s with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing their doors.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Your support has meant so much to the whole team.”
Among the stores to be closing are in Crewe, Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield, Fleetwood, Burnley, Oldham, Salford and Bury.
In addition shops will be shutting in Rochdale, Hanley, Birkenhead, Bootle, Bacup, Bolton, Gateshead and Sunderland.
An exact closure date has not been announced.
Private equity firm Mondella Capital bought Wynsors at the end of 2025, with the closures happening less than a year after the purchase.
Earlier this year, Claire's and The Original Factory Shop - also owned by the company - fell into administration, resulting in the closure of all 291 branches (combined total).
Three of the casualties came in Oxfordshire, with the Didcot and Witney Claire's branches closing alongside the Oxford Westgate store.
Last year, two stores for the fashion accessories chain in Banbury, at the Castle Quay Shopping Centre and Banbury Gateway Shopping Park, also permanently shut.
Administrators for Clarie's said that around 1,300 workers would be made redundant as a result with Kroll hired to oversee the administration earlier this year.
A spokesman for Kroll said: “As of April 27, all Claire’s standalone stores in the UK and Ireland have ceased trading.
“All store employees have been advised of redundancy.
“We understand an interested party is in discussion with a number of landlords with a view to taking new leases for some of the sites.”

In addition The Original Factory Shop in Carterton shut its doors in March, one of over 100 to close nationwide.
Administrators said The Original Factory Shop’s troubles have been driven by challenging trading conditions, linked to high-cost inflation, fragile consumer confidence and rising labour costs caused by government policies.
Problems were then exacerbated by issues linked to its third-party warehouse and logistics operator, weakening sales further.
