AN ELECTRICIAN who helped fit out a luxurious bathroom showroom in Headington says he was left unpaid when the owners suddenly closed the shop earlier this month.
Mystery surrounds the closure of the Ripples showroom, one of 15 franchises in the UK. Owners Ken and Jean Sewell were yesterday unavailable to comment.
Paul Collett, of Abingdon-based GEC Electrical Contractors, said: “The company owes us about £6,000. I think it’s disgusting that the owners can just walk away from their debts.” Customers expecting goods have been referred to Ripples in Henley, where the showroom manager is Pauline Heffernan, a former director and part-owner of the Headington operation. Juliet Harris, spokesman for Ripples head office, said they had terminated the contract with K&J Sewell on July 2.
