‘Village under threat’

Sir – The historic village of Brize Norton is once again under threat of absorption by its neighbour Carterton.

Many people are not registered to vote

Sir – According to the Electoral Commission, 3.5m people in the UK are entitled, but not registered, to vote.

Sir – Initially, I was shocked by councillor Steve Hayward’s letter (Gazette, March 3), which expressed his personal opinions about Fairtrade, based on such misinformed dogma. However, on reflection, I was grateful that he so vividly and publicly expressed himself, as they help illustrate similar views that we have encountered from some of the Witney town councillors.

Sir - Something needs to be done immediately in Witney at the section of road from the roundabout at the Buttercross to the War Memorial while the gas works are taking place.

Sir – I see in the press that the Met Office has decided to drop publicising its long-range forecasts following the ‘barbecue summer’ and ‘probable mild winter’ forecasting fiascos.
