Sir – Recently I received an election leaflet advising people to check who was for and who was against the Cogges Link Road, and to support those people who want to turn Witney into a Green Town.

Expenses reduction could reduce our tax

Sir – Regarding M French’s (Gazette, May 27) letter on the recent MPs’ expenses scandal, who said: “I believe these facts and figures are being released under the Freedom of Information Act. Can the same principle be used to publish what out local and county councillors are claiming for, right down to the last ‘Mars bar’” – what a fantastic idea!

Sir – Our family attended the event held at Carterton Football Club “Part on the Pitch” last month – with “covers” from Madness in the afternoon and a Queen-tribute band early evening. It was a resounding success, with various stalls and loads to do for all the family.

Flood management funding

Sir – I am chairman of the Bampton-based Flood Prevention Working Group, which was set up after the July 2007 floods, and which has representatives from Aston, Brize Norton, Clanfield, and Carterton councils.
