STUDENTS at Chipping Norton School learned about Parliament from a special visitor.

The Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, Baroness D’Souza, talked to year 11 and sixth-form pupils at the school on Friday as part of the Peers in Schools outreach programme.

She discussed her job and the role of the House of Lords in making laws.

Head girl Jess Falconer-Hall, 17, said: “We all enjoyed this engaging experience. It allowed us to expand our knowledge of Parliament.”

Teacher Peter Ward said: “Baroness D’Souza presented democracy as an adventure we are all invited to take part in. Our students rose to the challenge with their insightful questioning. I have every confidence there is a future peer among them.”
